The Fumes

The Fumes from OZ deliver uniquely Australian rock’n blues with swagger n style. Their live presence is powerhouse, highly and frequently praised.

The Fumes hit many highs in these past years. From their inclusion on the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan in 08, touring exclusively with Queens of The Stone Age, to dynamic showcases at SXSW in Austin 09. The Fumes also toured to Canada, LA and New York to introduce themselves in North America while they kept their signature profile of regular touring in Australia and Tokyo chalking up well documented, high octane live presence on respected festival line-ups and headline shows on rock venue stages. All the while they released their second studio album ‘Sundancer’ produced by Jim Diamond from Detroit (Dirtbombs/ Electric Six/ The White Stripes) in Australia & Japan. The release resulted with a tremendous number of stunning reviews from credible music media right around the country, national radio airplay, and a steady top 20 position in the AIR charts for 18 weeks.

The Fumes returned to NYC in October 09 to showcase themselves at CMJ and will make their way back OS in May 2010 to support their first release in North America & Europe (Kayo/Megaforce/RED/SONY). Before the band head offshore the final single from ‘Sundancer’ will be released to radio in Australia in February supporting their national tours with Clutch and Calexico.

Some nights it�s like this, where it all goes well from the moment you close your front door until you stagger out of the venue a couple of hours later, exhilarated and exhausted, quivering like a 10-year-old hopped up on sugar, shrieking �I wanna go AGAIN!� And yes, that was me.

You gotta love The Fumes. The duo appeared on stage, cranked out an outstanding set and managed to make me forget just for a little while who we had all come to see. Theirs was a skuzzy, swampy, distorted sound that�s maybe second cousin once removed from the primordial ooze that rock�n�roll springs from. Think filthy, bluesy, somewhat damaged and a strangely perfect warm up for the Queens show. Who wants cool when raw, blistering guitar and drums feels this good? [�>
