After finishing 2009 with their acclaimed second album ‘Sundancer’ sitting at No 2 on Triple J’s Roots Album of The Year The Fumes are back in 2010 with a light hearted release and the final of the singles lifted from the album. ‘Rogue River Woman’ comes packaged with the accompanying video in a CD Rom format.
Laid out with inspired quirky hand drawn pictures depicting the two piece throughout with cartoonish personality and images as diverse as can can girls, tight rope walking and scenes from Godzilla and space the zany reel mashes the quandary of love and loss.
The release coincides with The Fumes taking to the road on tours with Clutch and Calexico from the US, their inclusion on this year’s Bluesfest in April and touring with Hoodoo Gurus in May all before their departure back to the States in June.

Sundancer - The Tour continues
With an impressive number of stunning reviews for their second studio album Sundancer under their belt, a slew of impressed folk in the wake from the first of the Australian tour shows to support the release and a steady top 20 position in the AIR charts since its release. The Fumes announce round two. Taking in cities and towns they missed on the first jaunt, The Fumes express will be on the road again in August and September.
Read the bands press and you may wonder how a mere two-piece can garner so much hype and histrionics. But in the case of geetar-slinger and mighty-bearded vocalist Steve Merry and drumming prodigy Joel Battersby, the gushing is with good reason.
What I love about this record and The Fumes in general is there is no pretence. Excellent second record - Rhythms June 2009

Queens Of The Stone Age, The Fumes @ The Big Top - Luna Park, Sydney (28/03/2008)
Review by Fiona Cameron, Drum Media #900, 8 April 2008
Some nights its like this, where it all goes well from the moment you close your front door until you stagger out of the venue a couple of hours later, exhilarated and exhausted, quivering like a 10-year-old hopped up on sugar, shrieking I wanna go AGAIN! And yes, that was me.
You gotta love The Fumes. The duo appeared on stage, cranked out an outstanding set and managed to make me forget just for a little while who we had all come to see. Theirs was a skuzzy, swampy, distorted sound thats maybe second cousin once removed from the primordial ooze that rocknroll springs from. Think filthy, bluesy, somewhat damaged and a strangely perfect warm up for the Queens show. Who wants cool when raw, blistering guitar and drums feels this good? [>
